Twice each year, the earth orbits around the sun bringing a situation whereby the antennae pointing to the satellites are looking at the sun directly. When this happens, the sun’s radiation overwhelms the satellite signal causing a sun outage.
Sun outages typically occur during the months of September/October, lasting as long as 15 minutes – 20 Minutes between 3.15 – 3.30 pm (local time) a day and spanning over a period of about 20 days. The effects of a sun outage will vary in degree from minimal to total service outage.
